Well, since it's "Come Back to LiveJournal" Week, I guess I can participate also...
There is lots to report these days, the biggest news being that my best friend since 6th grade (see earlier posts regarding her) was killed in a car accident in Colorado in November. I haven't been able to fully post about it yet, but I can at least say it out loud these days, so progress is ensuing.
Also, Cheri and I bought a new house. We are in the process of trying to sell the old house since we have already closed on the new house and are living in limbo which if you've known for at least 45 seconds, you know this is hell for me. But, what can you do...
School is keeping me very busy, as is work. Luckily work is begining to slow down (not this week, though!!). I plan on using every single vacation day I have this summer, doing nothing but sitting on the beach.
Well, it's Secondary school vacation week, and everyone and their mother is visiting RWU, I can hear them gathering downstairs, so I have to go attend to them. I will try to be better at writing.
PeAcE, Kris

Ok,I'm a nerd.
School has started for me, and I love having assignments and stuff to read. It's good to feel like I'm learning something, and doing something good for myself. I would go to school forever if it didn't cost so much. In fact, if I could get PAID to go to school, I so would. However, it's busy as hell this week. I have had three school visits a day and a college fair every night for the past three nights, not to mention Open House was Sunday, after which, I had to drive 5 hours to Jersey. It really really blew. So anyway, It's busy, and I haven't had much time to do my school work, but when i've had time, I'm trying to squeeze it in. It should be easier once this week is over.
Other than that, there's really nothing new going on. Meredith's little boy is just the cutest thing you've ever seen, and even though I haven't met Lynnie's baby yet, his pictures tell me he's as beautiful as they come, too. I just can't wait to meet him.
Well, i think that's all I've got. Goodnight everyone, I'm off to bed!

YAAAAAAY!!! Yesterday at 1:32pm (Colorado time)Lynnie gave birth to a little baby boy!! He is 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and 20 inches long!!! She lucked out with a labor of only 5 and a half hours! I haven't seen him yet, obviously because he's in Colorado, but I hear he's just about the cutest, most perfect little thing around! So far, she only picked a first name, no middle yet, so for now, it's Joseph Port.
YAAAAAAY for new babies!!

Ok, so it's been a long time since I've written, but I haven't had anything to write about until now.
The most exciting news is that Meredith (the Counselor I work with, and my very good friend) had a baby!!! A little baby BOY!! named Justin David Crawford, Jr. or J.J. for short. He is soooooooo cute!! I am very happy for her! Though I am SOOOO sad that she will be out of the office for THREE MONTHS! :-( I miss her already.
We are still waiting for Lynnie (my best friend since 5th grade who lives in Colorado) to have her baby. She is due in about a week and a half. She is expecting a boy, too. But you really never know until it actually comes out! I can't wait! I will be an Auntie all over again! This will be my fifth neice/nephew!!! Ok, well I won't ACTUALLY be related to Lynnie's baby, so I guess I shouldn't count it, but since it will call me Auntie Kristy, and I will spoil it like it's my own, I think it counts. And she is planning to move back to MA once he is born which I REALLY can't wait for!!!!! I will be sure to post all about that birth as well. YAAAAAAY for new babies!!!!
In other news, I have been accepted to the Master's of Higher Education program at Drexel University along with Shannon (LJ: thesparklychick, sorry, I forget how to link that to her actual LJ) and Diane, both from Financial Aid. So that will be fun! We start classes online on September 26th. YAAAAAY for new schools!!!!
Travel starts VERY soon. Some days I feel ready, some days I do not. I'm excited to get my rental car, though! That happens next Tuesday. Can't wait for that!!! YAAAAY for new cars!!!!!
That's most of the exciting stuff. Cheri and I are still good. We are going to the Bahamas in 12 weeks!!!!! I am REALLY excited about that. Also, We are getting ready to buy a new house in the Springtime. Not that we don't love this one, we are just ready to get closer to both of our jobs by moving to the East Bay. Also, we want to cash in on some of our equity that we've earned in this house, so we can lower our mortgage, and put some money in the bank. YAAAAAAY for new houses!!!!
Well, that's just about all I've got. I'll try to be a better LiveJournal-er PeAcE ~ Kris

Ok, So yesterday I was SUPER glad we have a pool. Even though it's SOOOOOO MUCH WORK, yesterday made it all worth it. Cheri and I submerged ourself in the water for the ENTIRE day, getting out only once to run to the seafood market to get crab legs and steamers. It was a really, really great day. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DID NOT want to go to work today. But at least it's not quiet as hot as yesterday and Saturday were.
Saturday was Meredith's baby shower, which was a lot of fun. She has a really great family. I can't believe how big she's gotten! But she is SO cute! I felt the baby move a lot today while we were eating lunch. Speaking of babies, Lynnie is moving right along in her pregnancy. She's only a week behind Meredith. I hope I can get out to see her before she has the baby. And Tiffany is due any day now. I feel like I know a thousand people having babies these days!
I am registered for my first class for that Master's Program. It begins on Aug 1. I could have started on July 5, but I am just not ready to jump in just yet. Aug 1 will be perfect.
Well, that's all the news I got for now.

So I saw the Antigone Rising CD in Starbucks a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. They seem to be off on their way to stardom. I actually bought it today and I am totally in love with it.

I can't believe the L Word is almost over. What IS that shit?!?!? Is it going to be another year before season three?? That will suck so friggin bad. Jenny is totally falling off the deep end. And what's with Tina's baby?!? If she looses in now, I swear I'll stop watching that god forshaken show!!!! Well, ok, maybe not. But I will seriously consider it. I'll probably have a whole friggin YEAR to consider it. jeesh.
Well, I am traveling a lot for work this month. Mostly in NY, but a little bit of NJ, too. It's been nice to get out of the office. But I kinda miss being at home!!
Wow, I really have nothing to write about. SO that's it for now, I guess.

It's been awhile. Sorry bout that. I've been a super busy girl. We just finished up our first round of Accepted Student's Day and it went really well. It's been a LONG ASS week though. I've been working 11 days straight with no days off. And 17 days with only one day off. But tomorrow is the begining of a much deserved 5 day vacation. I'm VERY excited! Some exciting work-related news, I've been appointed the new liaison between the Office of Admission and the Alumni office and helping to run the Alumni Supporting Admissions Program (ASAP)which is very neat. I'm very excited about it.
On another note, the really awful week that I had a couple of weeks ago is starting to get better. I'm FINALLY getting a handle on my student loans and we had really exciting news about our house. Last week, it appraised for $300,000!!!! Which is FANTASTIC, because we paid $220,000 for it. Which means we made about $80,000 in ONE YEAR! That's really exciting!! We are finally going to be refinancing and dropping our payment by about $400. a month, which will give us some MUCH needed extra cash. The best thing we EVER did was buy a house, I'll tell ya that much.
Interesting enough, Nik said that she ran into Carrie last weekend and gave her my cell phone number. I am hoping that she calls because I would like to see how she's doing. I miss her. I really do. I'm not sure if there's hope for reconnecting, but I would certianly like to find out.
All is well with Cheri. We're still going strong!! And she's still the love of my life. :-D
That's all for now!

I'm not sure I'm this right. If I'm not, well this post is for to the movie club. But here goes anyway....
Cheri and I went to Newport to see Kinsey yesterday. It was a REALLY fantastic movie. It was all about the life and work of Alfred Kinsey (the creator of the Kinsey scale). I have always been really interested in his work, but this movie really intensified it. I never though about the effect he had on his time, and on us in the future. I mean, NO ONE talked about sex back then. And he really began a movement of liberation. It was really amazing. I highly recommend it. And for you gay boys out there, Liam Neason makes out with a guy. I mean REALLY makes out. For like, A full minute, maybe two.

W'04 bumper stickers make me madder. They make me want to slam my car into their car.

Ok, so I'm a little late with the christmas recap, but I've been busy! I know.. that's no excuse. Well here goes.
December 24th - Christmas Eve I spent the whole day helping my mom get ready for our 25th annual christmas eve party. Cheri came over in the morning, but had to leave at 2:30 to go into work for 4. People started showing up about 7:30 and it was a BLAST. This is ALWAYS the best part of christmas! All of the kids I grew up with (and some that I used to babysit!) Showed up and we had a great time laughing, reminising, and EATING. My mom makes her famous calzone... something we ALL wait all year for! It's SOOOOO good! After everyone went home, around 11, my parents and I opened presents. This is a new tradition, we used to do it on Christmas morning, but last year we started doing it on Christmas eve, just the three of us (four last year because Cheri was there) My momhad a slew of presents for both Cheri and I, she really out-did herself. My dad gave my money.
December 25th - Christmas Day I had to get up at 6:30 to be at my sister's house by 7am. (She has four kids, and they simply CAN NOT wait any later than 7!) They were so cute, especially the two youngest (ages 3 and 6) Santa brought them LOTS of presents, they were very good this year. And Mommy and Daddy make a shit load of money. (Who says Santa doesn't care if you're rich or poor?) My neices and newphew gave me a smores maker and sister and brother-in-law gave me a beautiful sweater from one of my favorite stores, Anne Taylor Loft. After that, we went back to my parents house and took naps before christmas dinner at 2 (back at my sister's house.) Around 12:30 my mom and dad got into a stupid argument, and that made me mad. Then my mom and I left to visit my grampa. He's been having some problems with his prostate, so he wasn't feeling very well, and wasn't going to join us at my sister's house. We brought him presents and fed him then moved on to my sister's house. There, the kids had all the toys out, and demanded that I play school with them. I was in the second grade, and my teacher was my 12 year old neice, Chelsi, who failed me in every subject except History. Oddly enough, History was the only subject she didn't actually even mention, never mind "teach." Until I saw my report card, I didn't even know I took History. Anyway, on my report card, it said I passed 6th grade. I thought I was in Second. But, I didn't argue. I felt a LITTLE better knowing I failed 6th grade instead of 2nd. Around 5:30 I drove home, and met up with the gang to go out and see Marcy play at the bar and spread some christmas cheer. Cheri and Maari met us out at the bar when they got off of work. We stayed out til around 1 and then came home and went to bed. There were parts of the day that were really tough, especially on my mom, since it was the first Christmas without my Gram. She really really LOVED Christmas. And it seemed so empty without here around.
December 26th - Christmas Day part 2 Cheri and I hadn't really seen each other much because she had been working, so we got up and pretended it was Christmas morning (only better because our favorite coffee shop was open!!) So we got coffee and put all the christmas lights on and christmas music and opened presents. I gave her two books she wanted, lots of candles, smelly spray stuff, socks and underwear, and a GameCube and a few games. She gave me a trip to the Bahamas. I was so shocked, I couldn't even speak for about two minutes. She wrapped up a travel brochure for the Bahamas. It was really awesome. She also gave me socks, a foot spa, chocolate, a CD (Howey Day) and a DVD, a bottle of Cool Water Woman, and a few other things. It was really wonderful.
Well, that was Christmas in a nutshell. Tonight is New Years Eve, and Cheri and I are going to Jenn and Dawn's with the rest of the gang to exchange christmas presents and celebrate the new year!!

I would like to join Your_Moive_Club... but I don't know how to join a community. :-( In the spirit of college admissions, which i am now surrounded by, I would like to apply to Your_Movie_Club community. Here's a sample of my estimated future contribution:
Ok, Just for fun, list some of your favorite movie lines. Here are (just a few!) of my MANY favorite movies.
"What, You callin' my motha a liar? She says that diapers, are for babies." Eddy to Mikey in Look Who's Talking Too
"Say 'what' again, Mother Fucker!" Pulp Fiction
"Ello." - "Did you say, 'Hello'?" - "No, I said, Ello. But that's close enough." Worm to Sara in Labyrinth
"GO TO YOUR HOME! Are you too good for your home?!?" Happy Gilmore to golf ball in Happy Gilmore
"Violet! You're turning Violet, Violet!" Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Oh, there's SOOOO Many more!! We'll start with that, though
I anxiously await your decision. Thank You.
